Family Passphrase: Verify an Urgent Family Request

A family passphrase is a shared verification phrase that helps you check an unexpected family request before sending money or sensitive information.

    Familiar voices are not enough

An urgent caller may sound like someone you know. The FTC warns that voice-cloning tools can be used in family-emergency scams. Verify the request independently instead of trying to decide whether the voice sounds artificial.

    How ZoraSafe’s Family Passphrase fits

ZoraSafe provides a regularly rotating shared phrase for trusted people to verify urgent requests. Follow the current in-app setup and phrase shown to your trusted group. Rotation is an extra check, not a guarantee that a person or request is safe.

Agree ahead of time when your family will use it and how you will reconnect if verification fails. Use the current phrase and instructions in the app; do not rely on an old saved phrase.

When someone says there is an emergency

    1. Pause before sending money, sharing information or following an unfamiliar link.
    2. Ask the caller to provide the agreed verification phrase; do not supply it to them or coach the answer.
    3. If the phrase is wrong, unavailable or unexpectedly disputed, stop the transaction and call back through a number you already trust.
    4. If you cannot reach the person, contact another trusted family member. Use local emergency services if you believe someone faces immediate danger.

    Keep control of the phrase

Do not publish the phrase, reuse a banking password or send it to an unexpected caller. If it may have been exposed, pause reliance on it and use an independent callback while reviewing access through the app.

A compromised account or someone who knows the phrase can still mislead you. Family support is invited; this feature is not covert monitoring and does not authenticate every payment request.
